A reflection on Surah Al-Mulk 67:29 - a short, confident statement of faith that answers every earlier doubt in the surah.
After a long sequence of pointed questions, Surah Al-Mulk gives the believer a short, confident statement to hold onto. At Darus Saulieghien Quraan Academy, we like this ayah especially, because it is something even a young student can carry as their own declaration.
A Simple, Firm Statement
قُلْ هُوَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ ءَامَنَّا بِهِۦ وَعَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا ۖ فَسَتَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ هُوَ فِى ضَلَـٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ ٢٩
"Say, 'He is the Most Merciful; we have believed in Him, and upon Him we have relied. And you will [come to] know who it is that is in clear error.'" (Surah Al-Mulk 67:29)
Two things are declared together here: belief and reliance. It is not enough to only believe in Allah (SWT) intellectually; the verse pairs that belief with tawakkul, actively relying on Him. The outcome, the ayah says, will make clear in time who was truly guided.
Belief Paired With Trust
This is a model for how faith should function day to day, not as a passive idea, but as something acted upon through reliance. A student memorising the Qur'an, a parent making a difficult decision, both are living examples of this same pairing.
We encourage our DSQA families to hold both halves of this ayah together: sincere belief, and the trust that follows from it in how we respond to daily life.
