A reflection on Surah Al-Mulk 67:28 - a challenge that strips away every false source of protection.
Surah Al-Mulk returns again and again to a single theme: that nothing and no one stands as a genuine alternative to Allah (SWT). At Darus Saulieghien Quraan Academy, we find this repetition itself instructive, a reminder worth returning to often.
A Question With Only One Honest Answer
قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِنْ أَهْلَكَنِىَ ٱللَّهُ وَمَن مَّعِىَ أَوْ رَحِمَنَا فَمَن يُجِيرُ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ مِنْ عَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ ٢٨
"Say, [O Muhammad], 'Have you considered: whether Allah should cause my death and those with me or have mercy upon us, who can protect the disbelievers from a painful punishment?'" (Surah Al-Mulk 67:28)
The Prophet (SAW) is instructed to pose this challenge directly: even if he and the believers with him were to perish, this would not benefit the disbelievers in the slightest, because their real problem, protection from Allah's punishment, would remain entirely unresolved.
Where Protection Actually Comes From
This verse dismantles the idea that opposing truth somehow secures safety. Real protection has only ever come from Allah (SWT), never from rejecting Him or those who follow Him.
We try to instil in our students the confidence this ayah offers: that their security does not depend on the approval or opposition of others, but on their standing with Allah (SWT) alone.
May Allah (SWT) be the true protector of our students in every circumstance, and may He never let them seek safety anywhere but in Him. Ameen.
