Surah Al-Falaq 113:1 - Allah teaches believers exactly how, and to whom, to seek refuge from harm.
Surah Al-Falaq opens Islam's answer to a fear every human being carries at some point: the unseen, the unknown, the harm that cannot always be predicted. At Darus Saulieghien Quraan Academy we teach this surah to our youngest students early, precisely because that fear can visit a child as easily as an adult.
Refuge, Directed Correctly
قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ ٱلْفَلَقِ
"Say, 'I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak.'" (Surah Al-Falaq 113:1)
Allah (SWT) does not leave a believer to invent their own protection or to seek it from charms, superstition, or fear itself. He teaches the exact words to say and, more importantly, exactly who to direct them to. Elsewhere the Qur'an confirms: "And if you are tempted by Satan, then seek refuge with Allah. Surely He is All-Hearing, All-Knowing." (Surah Al-A'raf 7:200)
A Simple Habit We Teach Early
We encourage our students to recite Surah Al-Falaq, alongside Surah An-Nas, morning and evening, a simple habit that settles a young heart before sleep or before a difficult day. The first lesson of this surah is not really about the dangers it later names. It is about the One who protects us from all of them.
May Allah (SWT), Lord of daybreak, be the refuge our students turn to whenever fear or harm approaches them. Ameen.
