Not Everyone With Knowledge Becomes a Guide
Allah (SWT) reminds the Prophet (SAW) of Musa (peace be upon him) and the righteous leaders who arose from among his people:
وَجَعَلْنَا مِنْهُمْ أَئِمَّةً يَهْدُونَ بِأَمْرِنَا لَمَّا صَبَرُوا۟ ۖ وَكَانُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا يُوقِنُونَ
"And We made from among them leaders guiding by Our command when they were patient and [when] they were certain of Our signs." (Surah As-Sajdah 32:24)
Notice the reason given for their leadership: not simply knowledge, but patience and certainty held together.
Two Qualities That Complete Each Other
Patience alone can become mere endurance without direction. Certainty alone can collapse the first time it is tested. Together, they produce the stability the surah is describing. This connects to everything the surah has taught so far, the believers who humbled themselves before revelation needed certainty; those who rose at night in worship needed patience.
The Prophet (SAW) said: "The strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than the weak believer, although there is good in both..." (Sahih Muslim 2664)
Building Both Qualities in Our Students
A long Hifz journey demands exactly this combination, patience through the slow stretches, and certainty that the effort is not wasted. We try to build both in our students, not just the discipline to continue, but the trust that lets them continue without losing heart.
