A reflection on Surah As-Sajdah 32:17-18 - the reward prepared for deeds done sincerely, even those no one else ever sees.

A Reward Beyond Imagination
After describing believers who rise at night to worship in private, Allah (SWT) reveals what awaits them:
فَلَا تَعْلَمُ نَفْسٌ مَّآ أُخْفِىَ لَهُم مِّن قُرَّةِ أَعْيُنٍ جَزَآءًۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
"And no soul knows what has been hidden for them of comfort for eyes [i.e., satisfaction] as reward for what they used to do." (Surah As-Sajdah 32:17)
Scholars note the beautiful connection: their sincerity was often hidden from people, and the reward prepared for it is likewise hidden until they meet Allah (SWT).
Not Equal Before Allah
The passage then asks directly:
أَفَمَن كَانَ مُؤْمِنًا كَمَن كَانَ فَاسِقًا ۚ لَّا يَسْتَوُۥنَ
"Then is one who was a believer like one who was defiantly disobedient? They are not equal." (Surah As-Sajdah 32:18)
The difference between sincere believers and those who reject guidance is not only what they know, but how they respond to it. The Prophet (SAW) relayed that Allah (SWT) says: "I have prepared for My righteous servants what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and what has never crossed the heart of any human being." (Sahih al-Bukhari 3244; Sahih Muslim 2824)
The Value of Unseen Effort
We want our students to know that Allah (SWT) sees every hour of revision no one else witnesses, every act of patience unnoticed by classmates or teachers. Nothing sincere done for His sake is ever forgotten.
May Allah (SWT) reward every hidden effort our students make for His sake, far beyond what they can imagine. Ameen.
