Building a Routine That Aligns With Faith

11 January 2027

A reflection on Surah Ash-Sharh 94:7-8 - anchoring a daily routine around salah rather than fitting salah around a routine.

Families often tell us that the hardest part of a Hifz schedule is not the memorisation itself but fitting everything else around it. Surah Ash-Sharh offers a simple principle that reorders the whole question.

From One Task to the Next, Toward Allah

Allah (SWT) says:

فَإِذَا فَرَغْتَ فَٱنصَبْ ٧ وَإِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَٱرْغَب ٨
"So when you have finished [your duties], then stand up [for worship]. And to your Lord direct your longing." (Surah Ash-Sharh 94:7-8)

A believer's life is meant to move between worldly tasks and turning back to Allah (SWT), not one long stretch of the world with worship squeezed into the gaps. Salah, as Surah An-Nisa reminds us (4:103), is the spine of the day - fixed points that pull us back to remembrance five times over, whatever else is happening.

Moderation, Not Extremism

The Prophet (SAW) said: "Religion is very easy and whoever overburdens himself in his religion will not be able to continue in that way... gain strength by worshipping in the mornings, the afternoons, and during the last hours of the nights." (Sahih al-Bukhari 39) A sustainable routine is a balanced one, built around the fixed points Allah (SWT) has already given us.

Anchor the Day, Don't Squeeze It In

We encourage our students to build their homework and revision time around salah rather than treating prayer as an interruption to fit around everything else. When salah becomes the frame, the rest of the day finds its own order.

May Allah (SWT) bless our students' mornings and grant them a routine that draws them nearer to Him at every turn. Ameen.
