A reflection on Surah Al-An'am 6:162 - how even ordinary routine becomes worship when the intention is sincere.
Not every part of a student's day at Darus Saulieghien Quraan Academy is spent in the Qur'an class or in salah - much of it is ordinary: homework, meals, rest. Surah Al-An'am teaches that even the ordinary can be transformed by intention.
Every Act Directed to Allah
Allah (SWT) instructs the Prophet (SAW) to say:
قُلْ إِنَّ صَلَاتِى وَنُسُكِى وَمَحْيَاىَ وَمَمَاتِى لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ١٦٢
"Say, 'Indeed, my prayer, my rites of sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, Lord of the worlds.'" (Surah Al-An'am 6:162)
Not only prayer and sacrifice, but living itself, is claimed for Allah (SWT) in this ayah. When the heart says "for You, Ya Allah" before an ordinary task, that task carries eternal weight. Surah Az-Zalzalah (99:7) confirms that not even the smallest sincere good is ever lost.
Small and Sincere Beats Large and Empty
The Prophet (SAW) said: "Be mindful of Allah wherever you are. Follow a bad deed with a good one - it will erase it. And treat people with good character." (Jami' at-Tirmidhi 1987) Intentional living is not about doing more; it is about doing what we already do with Allah (SWT) in mind.
What We Hope Our Students Carry
Five minutes of dhikr, a page of revision started with Bismillah, a kind word to a classmate - none of it is insignificant when the intention behind it is sincere.
May Allah (SWT) accept the small, sincere efforts of our students and grant barakah in every part of their day. Ameen.
