Shapes, Space and Time: Grade 2 Turtles and Clocks

Alhamdulillah, our Grade 2 learners brought Space and Shape and Time to life with handmade 3D turtle models and working clock faces.

Alhamdulillah, our Grade 2 learners have been hard at work bringing two Maths topics to life: Space and Shape, and Time. Rather than just reading about 3D shapes and clocks in a textbook, each learner built their own, and the results filled the classroom with colour.

3D Shapes: Turtle Projects

For Space and Shape, learners turned bottle caps, boxes, and recycled materials into turtles, each shell built up from spheres, hexagons, and other 3D forms. Every turtle was different: some covered in mosaic-style shell patterns, some glittered, some nestled in tiny grass-filled habitats, but each one showed real thought about how flat shapes wrap around to build a 3D form.

Time: Clock Making

For the Time topic, learners each designed and built their own working clock face, complete with hour and minute hands. From a Minnie Mouse-inspired clock to flowers, cats, and paper plate designs, every clock was decorated in the learner's own style while still getting the fundamentals right: numbers in order, hands that turn, and a clear centre point.

Mabrook to our Grade 2 class on two topics well learned, and well built. A big Jazakumullahu khayran to their mu'allimah for turning Maths into something learners could hold in their hands. May Allah (SWT) bless their efforts and keep them eager to learn. Ameen.
