Why the real preparation for Ramadan begins in the heart, weeks before the month itself, and how DSQA tries to build that habit early.
At Darus Saulieghien Quraan Academy, we often notice that families begin preparing for Ramadan in practical ways well ahead of time, planning meals, adjusting schedules, clearing calendars. Far fewer of us prepare the heart with the same intention, yet that inward preparation is what determines whether the month is truly transformative or simply endured.
Why the Heart Comes First
Ramadan is not only a change in routine; it is an invitation to a change in state. Fasting, prayer, and Qur'an all direct their real effect inward, toward the heart, and a heart that has not been prepared often struggles to receive what the month offers.
Scholars of tazkiyah (purification of the soul) describe the weeks before Ramadan as a season for exactly this kind of inward readiness, examining bad habits, softening hardness, and renewing sincerity before the month of worship begins in earnest.
What We Try to Build at DSQA
We encourage our students to see Ramadan preparation as something that starts now, not on the first night of the month. A small habit renewed early, an extra du'a, a returned bad habit corrected, carries into Ramadan far more easily than a sudden shift attempted all at once.
May Allah (SWT) prepare our hearts, and the hearts of our students and their families, to receive Ramadan with sincerity and presence this year. Ameen.
