Peace Be Upon You for What You Patiently Endured

31 December 2026

A reflection on Surah Ar-Ra'd 13:24 - the angels' greeting to believers in Paradise, and why patience is the quality they single out.

Of every quality a believer builds over a lifetime, the angels single out one, patience, when they welcome believers into Paradise. At Darus Saulieghien Quraan Academy, this is a truth we hold close, because patience is exactly what a Hifz journey demands, day after quiet day.

The Greeting That Awaits

Allah (SWT) describes the angels' words:

سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَيْكُم بِمَا صَبَرْتُمْ ۚ فَنِعْمَ عُقْبَى ٱلدَّارِ
"Peace be upon you for what you patiently endured. And excellent is the final home." (Surah Ar-Ra'd 13:24)

Patience is highlighted because it is the quiet fuel behind every other act of worship, prayer requires it, fasting requires it, staying steady in memorisation requires it. The Prophet (SAW) relayed that Allah (SWT) said, "I have prepared for My righteous servants what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no heart has imagined." (Sahih al-Bukhari 3244; Sahih Muslim 2824)

A Reason to Keep Going

We tell our students that every difficult revision, every page memorised despite tiredness, is not wasted effort. It is preparation for a greeting far greater than any praise this world can offer. Patience today becomes the very words spoken over them tomorrow.

May Allah (SWT) make our students among those greeted with peace for their patient endurance, and grant them an excellent final home. Ameen.
