A reflection on Surah Al-Mulk 67:3 - the invitation to look at creation again and again, and find in its perfection a reason to trust Allah's decree.
The Qur'an repeatedly invites us to simply look, at the sky, at the balance of the seasons, at the precision of our own bodies. That invitation is worth taking seriously; it is one of the simplest doors to certainty in Allah (SWT).
An Invitation to Look Again
Allah (SWT) says:
ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ سَبْعَ سَمَـٰوَٰتٍ طِبَاقًا ۖ مَّا تَرَىٰ فِى خَلْقِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ مِن تَفَـٰوُتٍ ۖ فَٱرْجِعِ ٱلْبَصَرَ هَلْ تَرَىٰ مِن فُطُورٍ
"[And] who created seven heavens in layers. You do not see in the creation of the Most Merciful any inconsistency. So return your vision, do you see any breaks?" (Surah Al-Mulk 67:3)
The Prophet (SAW) taught his companions to reflect on creation, saying, "Reflect upon the creation, but do not reflect upon the essence of Allah." Every discovery of pattern and precision in the natural world only magnifies the Creator's design, without ever reaching or defining Him.
What Flawless Design Teaches Us About Difficulty
If the stars never fall out of place and the seasons never fail to turn, then Allah's (SWT) decree over our own lives is never random either, even when our limited vision cannot yet see the reason behind it.
May Allah (SWT) open the hearts of our students to see His perfection in creation, and to trust His perfection in decree. Ameen.
