A reflection on Surah Al-Qalam 68:4 - the Prophet's (SAW) character was not shaped by pressure or circumstance, but by his connection to Allah.
Allah (SWT) did not simply describe the Prophet's (SAW) character as good. He called it outstanding. At Darus Saulieghien Quraan Academy, we hold this description up as the standard our students are working toward, not perfection in a single act, but consistency of character across every situation.
A Character Beyond Circumstance
Allah (SWT) says:
وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَىٰ خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ
"And indeed, you are of a great moral character." (Surah Al-Qalam 68:4)
This showed itself not only in major moments, but in everyday dealings: forgiving enemies, showing kindness to the poor, playing gently with children. Allah (SWT) also says of him, "Had you been cruel or hard-hearted, they would have certainly abandoned you." (Surah Ali 'Imran 3:159) His softness was precisely what drew hearts toward the truth.
A Standard, Not a Distant Ideal
The Prophet (SAW) said, "Verily, Allah has prescribed Ihsan in all things." (Sahih Muslim 1955) - a call to consistent excellence in every dealing, not only in worship. We encourage our students to see character, how they treat a sibling, a classmate, a stranger, as inseparable from their faith itself.
May Allah (SWT) shape our students' character after the Prophet's (SAW) own, gracious, composed, and forgiving in every circumstance. Ameen.
