A reflection on Surah At-Tahrim 66:6 - protecting the family from the Fire through gentle, consistent teaching rather than control.
A righteous home, the Qur'an teaches, is built on both worship and warmth together. At Darus Saulieghien Quraan Academy, we hope the families we serve see their homes the same way: not simply a place of rules, but a circle of remembrance, gratitude, and mercy.
A Trust, Not Just Authority
Allah (SWT) commands:
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ قُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَكُمْ وَأَهْلِيكُمْ نَارًا
"O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire..." (Surah At-Tahrim 66:6)
This is not a call to control, but to amanah, a sacred trust carried with gentleness: to teach, to pray together, to make the home a place where Allah (SWT) is remembered rather than merely obeyed.
Gratitude as the Pulse of the Home
Many families fracture not through dramatic conflict but through slow forgetfulness, forgetting to appreciate one another. The Prophet (SAW) said: "The most beloved deeds to Allah are those done regularly, even if they are small." (Sahih al-Bukhari 6465; Sahih Muslim 783) Applied at home, this means consistent small acts of kindness matter more than rare grand gestures.
What We Encourage at Home
We encourage our families to gather, even briefly, for a shared act of remembrance: two rak'ahs together, a shared du'a, or simply each person naming one blessing they are grateful for that day. These small habits build a family's identity as servants of Allah (SWT), not merely as people who happen to share a home.
May Allah (SWT) make every home connected to DSQA a place where He is remembered together, and protect each family from the Fire. Ameen.
