In the hustle of daily life, itโs easy to lose sight of what truly lasts. Wealth comes and goes, moments pass, and our days slip away. Yet, Allah in His infinite mercy has granted us a path to ensure our deeds outlive us, bringing benefit and blessings long after weโve departed. This path is Sadaqah Jariyah โ a charity that never stops giving.
The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) beautifully reminded us:
“When a person dies, all one’s deeds cease, except three: a Sadaqah Jariyah, [religious] knowledge [one leaves behind] from which others benefit, and a righteous child who prays for one.”
(Sahih Muslim)
The Gift of Perpetual Charity
Sadaqah Jariyah isnโt just any charity; itโs a continuous flow of blessings. Itโs the well someone drinks from, the masjid where countless prayers are offered, or the madrassah where children learn the Qurโan. Every time these actions are performed, the donor shares in the reward.
Imagine contributing to a cause that teaches children to memorize the Qurโan. With each verse they recite, every word they pass on to others, and every prayer they make, your scales of good deeds grow heavier.
Knowledge That Illuminates Generations
Religious knowledge is a light that guides not only the individual but entire communities. Supporting institutions that impart Islamic education is a profound way to leave a legacy. The knowledge you help spread becomes a ripple in the vast ocean of good โ touching lives in ways you may never witness.
Righteous Children: The Ultimate Investment
Raising righteous children or supporting their education ensures that your connection to goodness doesnโt end with you. A child who prays for their parents, who carries on the teachings of Islam, becomes a beacon of hope and a continuous source of du’as and rewards.
Your Role in This Eternal Investment
Every opportunity to give in Sadaqah Jariyah is a chance to build a lasting treasure in the Hereafter. Contribute to projects that foster knowledge, aid the needy, or build spaces of worship. These are your seeds, and in the Hereafter, you will harvest gardens of reward.
Allah reminds us in the Qur’an:
ู
ููุง ุนููุฏูููู
ู ูููููุฏู ููู
ูุง ุนููุฏู ูฑูููููู ุจูุงูู
“Whatever you have will end, but what Allah has is lasting.”
(Surah An-Nahl 16:96)
Let us strive to invest in what truly lasts. May Allah grant us the wisdom to prioritize our Akhirah, accept our efforts, and make us among those whose deeds continue to benefit them eternally. Ameen.
